Capacitive proximity switches are sensors that operate without contact. They detect metallic and non-metallic objects, regardless of whether they are moving or not. The achievable switching distance of the devices depends on the material of the object, its dimensions and the response sensitivity set with a potentiometer. Vibration resistant sensors can be approached from the side or from the front. Capacitive proximity switches are used for presence query (e.g. tightness query), positioning (e.g. PET bottles), counting (e.g. plastic caps), level query (e.g. lubricant) or distance measurements (eg thickness measurement) of solid and liquid materials.
